Summer’s ahead.
School is banished!
Days are spent laying in the grass,
Watching the clouds change shape.
Smelling and hearing distant lawns being mowed.
Walking to the river with my brother and his friends.
Lolling over inner tubes; floating to town.
Then walking home again, dripping wet, slowly baking dry.
Tanning golden brown; hair bleaching in the sun.
Summer immersion,
In rest
