Chapter 23 Healing in the Sacred Area— from my book Changes

Chapter 23

Healing in the Sacred Area

The purpose of the sacred area in the medicine place is for healing.  Not for healing ourselves, or our family or loved ones, but for healing whomever or whatever the Creator sends us.

Tom explained this concept and verbally described the entire meditation beforehand so we would know exactly what to expect when we were actually setting up the healing place during meditation, and there would be no surprises.

Tom led us in a meditation to our sacred area and had us stand in the center of the circle, facing our favorite horizon.  Tom instructed us to feel the energy of the spiritual world under our feet; specifically the energy of light and healing.  Then he had us raise up an altar out of the ground in the sacred area, right in front of us, to be about waist height.  He suggested the altar be of stone.  We felt it with our hands and made it real.

Then Tom had us stand at the altar and feel the power of the spiritual earth under our feet.  We felt the vibration of the spiritual ground beneath our feet.

Tom then called out to the Creator to send each of us someone or something that needed healing.  They appeared and we were instructed to greet them and invite them to lay on the altar.

Then Tom had us bring the healing light energy up into our bodies from the spiritual earth and let it fill us up, until the light was so strong within us that it radiated out from us and surrounded us.

Next, he had us place our hands on the “patient” and begin sending the healing light through the patient, through the altar, and into the spiritual earth.  All the while, continuing to bring the healing light of the spiritual earth up into us and through us, so we would not be depleted.

After running light through the patient for awhile, sometimes gently, sometimes like a firehose, depending on what felt right, we were instructed to cut off the flow into the ground, then cut off the flow under the patient.  Then we were instructed to continue filling the patient up with healing light until they were full of light and the light was radiating out from them.  Then Tom had us cut off the flow from our hands to the patient.  Then cut off the flow into us from the spiritual earth.

The order we were taught to do this prevented us from depleting ourselves as we healed our patient.

The fact that we filled ourselves up with light first enabled us to clean ourselves before sending light through any other.

Once we finished, we invited our patient to sit up, come off the altar, embrace us if they wanted to, and then leave.

Doing this left me smiling and feeling full of love for my patient.

Tom then brought us back to the flesh.

That night, when I was in my sleeping bag, I decided to practice healing in the sacred area on my own.

I went through the meditation and once I was in the sacred area by my altar, I called upon the Creator to send me someone or something that needed healing.

To my surprise, the skeleton that I had encountered at the veil appeared on my altar.  But instead of being a crushed skeleton, it was no longer broken up.  I guess the zapp of light I sent it when the veil overtook me did some good for it.

I was shocked that the skeleton appeared, but I knew what to do.  I followed the instructions I had been given earlier and began running energy up through me, through the skeleton, and back into the spiritual earth.

As I ran the energy, the skeleton became fleshed out and fully clothed.  He was a short stocky man.  He looked strong and very fierce.  He was dressed as I would imaging a Celtic warrior would be dressed, in stained rawhide armor and heavy woolen clothing.  He had a beard and full head of hair, and his eyes were dark and fierce.  I felt a little bit afraid of him so I told him to be good, and I quickly shifted back to the physical.

The next night, when I had time to practice before going to sleep, I went to my medicine place and as soon as I stepped through the veil from the bottom of the stairs, I saw the Celtic warrior there, sitting in a chair waiting for me.  Standing next to him was a woman.

Tom had told us that when we encounter a spirit, we should ask what we can do for them.  They are happy to find someone who is aware of them and they may be looking for help.

So I asked him what I could do for him.

The woman said, “He wanted to thank you.”

I remember Tom telling us that sometimes they will bring an interpreter because they may not speak your language.

I smiled and said, “You’re welcome.”

Then they both disappeared.
