Day 8 Silent Night
Stepping out onto the snowy front walk
My feet press down with a crunchy squeak on the snow laden path in the darkness.
I stop, lay a folded wool blanket on a chaise lounge chair, and sit down; my layers of wool clothing and fleecy boots keeping me warm.
Only my face feels the frosty air.
I am quiet.
I listen to the silence of the night and my breath is the only sound I hear.
I lay down, look at the stars in the moonless night, then shut my eyes and rest.
The freshly cleaned air almost burns my nostrils with cold.
Soon, I have felt the night long enough.
I return to the warmth of my house, where family is gathered for dinner.
