Day 12 "Patches of Connection"
Day 12 “Patches of Connection”
Christmas and holidays at my Grandma Emma’s house
Were always an adventure.
She was an eccentric woman with
Eclectic tastes.
Grandma’s home was like a museum.
It was always fun when we took our dates there
As teenagers, during family gatherings.
Full of art and items from all over the world,
Her decorative objects would sometimes surprise you
Like the two little green frog figurines
That had human private parts
When you turned them over.
Her black puffy hair was always done up
In either a big black puff
Or an Egyptian style do.
She made sure she had her “face” on.
She had her brothers and sisters over
And there was laughter
And jokes,
Drinking and smoking,
Around the holiday dinner table.
Our cousins were there as well as
Aunts and uncles.
We were all family
And we were all connected,
By blood,
By association,
By memories,
And by family fun.
Felted merino wool and silk with bead and embroidery embellishments.
