We had many huge oak trees fall
One summer in Florida
During hurricane season.
The tree behind my husband’s office fell too.
It was a huge spreading oak.
We had to clear the broken tree out with chain saws.
When I touched the sawed off stump,
I saw in a flash
The life of the tree.
It was as if the tree was showing me itself
From the beginning of it’s life
Until that point.
It was beautiful.
