I saw a fellow student running toward my friend and me,
Along a white sand path in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.
Her eyes were wide and she was excited.
She stopped before passing by
Just long enough to tell us,
“There is a tree down there that is glowing!”
She pointed to where it was.
We smiled and walked on to check it out.
We did not find a glowing tree.
I had never seen a glowing tree before,
But now that I have,
I realize,
That glowing tree was likely just for her.
