Under the Sea
I create large flowing fiber art of colors and textures, assembled bit by bit, and brought together through the ancient technique of wet felting. My art reflects contrasts in life through contrasting colors and textures.
Under the Sea is made with loose wool, Margelan silk fabric, and little wool neps which are sewn on where needed to further firm them to the artwork.
Under the Sea is 70” wide, 37” tall, and 1” deep. The backing is rows of iron on stiffener as well as an overall iron on covering of softer material. this allows the piece to be folded up for transporting. There is a rod along the top for easy hanging on just two nails or hooks. The rod can be easily removed for framing if desired. When unfolding and hanging, any creases from being folded up can be ironed out with a little steam.

Under the Sea peeks at the mystery of the world under the water’s surface. Water has so many meanings and so much importance, both symbolically and actually. I often dream about water.
