Chapter 74 Keepers of the Force - from my book Changes
Chapter 74
Keepers of the Force
After Tom taught us about Grandfather’s worlds (see chapter 15), Tom explained about Keepers. In between the world of the physical and the world of spirit is the world of force, the Life Force as Taoists would call it (Tom said) and which is also known from Grandfather Stalking Wolf as the Spirit that moves in and through all things.
The way Tom explained it, there is a keeper for everything in the physical world, and there is a keeper for every group of things. For example, there is a keeper for a cell, a keeper for a leaf, a keeper for a tree, and a keeper for the whole forest, and a keeper for all trees in the world.
This concept reminds me of the math term regarding a set of numbers, and the elements of a set.
Tom had each of our groups go out one evening to our individual group fire areas and do an exercise to help each of us feel how the keeper of their group changes as the members in the group are changed.
After creating a fire, my group sat around the fire and felt for the keeper of our group. How does it feel being in the group? How does the group make each of us feel in our body? What does the energy of the group feel like?
Then, as instructed, we had one person leave the group fire area and stand a ways away, while those remaining felt for the keeper of the group that was left. How did the keeper of the new group feel? What was the difference in how this new combination of people made each of us feel.
There did not have to be a consensus, we just individually paid attention to any differences in how the keeper of the new group felt.
Then we called the person who had removed themselves back into the group, and sent out a different person.
This was repeated until each member of the group had been sent out so the group could feel the difference in the keeper of the group left at the fire area.
Then we sent out more than one person at a time to see and feel how the keeper of the group was different.
Tom said that when he teaches a class, he teaches to the Keeper of the class, not to any one individual person.
To take the concept of keeper to the extreme, there is obviously a keeper of everything physical combined, a keeper of this planet and all that is on her, a keeper of each collective group of beings whether plant, animal, or mineral; and a keeper of each element or group of elements in any larger set. The possibilities are endless.
As I mentioned in chapter 15, to be in the physical world is the most powerful place to be since existing in the physical means existing in all three: the physical, the force, and the spirit. As we become more and more aware of that unseen and eternal, we become more balanced and whole, and able to live in all worlds at once.
That is why Tom had us go from immersing ourselves in these spiritual realms during Philosophy 1 while laying down, with no distractions, for a whole week of guided meditations … to having us practice in Philosophy 2 while walking the trails at camp. Then eventually, through dirt time, to being able to connect to all the worlds when needed, during everyday life.
